The concept of insurance was invented by the Chinese and made famous
by Lloyds of London within the shipping industry.
The idea was that all ships and cargos would be insured and if a
ship and its cargo were lost at sea, the premiums paid by all would
be used to make the loss "whole" for the owner of the lost ship
and/or cargo.
When the first insurance fraud claim occurred, no one knows, but we
can assume that whenever money is involved, there's someone out
there trying to figure out an easy way to get it.
This is true even for homeowner's insurance.
The pages in this section delve into fraud involving homeowner's
policies.
